Obituary

Mr. Willie Lee Jenkins, son of the late James Robert “BB” Jenkins and the late Mary Bell Mills Jenkins, was born on November 17, 1948, in Greenville, South Carolina. He departed this life on Sunday, July 7, 2019, at St. Francis Hospital.

He attended Greenville County Schools and worked many years for Winn Dixie Warehouse.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew and friend. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, sports, hunting, fishing and music. Everyone knew he was James Brown’s #1 fan, from owning all of his recordings, attending concerts when he toured the upstate and driving to Augusta, Georgia, to be in attendance at James’ funeral.

He was preceded in death by his loyal wife of 39 years, Sharrie Ann Gray Jenkins; a sister, Patsy Walker; two brothers, James Robert Jenkins, Jr., and Johnny Jenkins; and a brother-in-law, David Bruster.

Left to cherish many fond and loving memories are his daughters, Zayshaw (Kirk) Sawyer, of Lawrenceville GA, and Tabita Jenkins of Greenville SC; one son, Willie Q. Jenkins of Greenville, SC; one grandson, Lamar Henry Jr., of Greenville, SC; two sisters, Mary L (Jerome) Boston and Lonita Jenkins, both of Greenville, SC; one brother, Tony Jenkins, and one uncle, Tommy Mills, both of Greenville, SC; his mother-in-law, Gladys Gray of Greenville, SC; two sisters-in-law, Molly Bruster of Waldorf, MD, and Barbara Hale of Chattanooga, TN; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends who will dearly miss him.
