Mr. Willie Otis “Tree Climber” Suber, 88, of 301 Idlewild Avenue, Greenville, South Carolina, passed on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at home. He was a son of the late Earl and Earlie Putman Suber.

He was employed at Palmetto Loom and Reed Company. He was the oldest member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Fountain Inn, South Carolina, where Rev. Samuel Flint, is the Pastor. He was also the oldest member of Mt. Zion All Male Chorus. He had joined Mt. Zion at an early age and remained faithful until his health failed .

His favorite scripture was John 3:16; the song that warmed his heart was Nearer My God to Thee. He was deeply loved, and he knew it’s not how long you’ve lived, but the service you have given to others. Love had left its trace in his peacefulness, the glow of deep contentment in his eyes and in his daily living, he accepted what God had planned and left tomorrow in His gracious hands.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl Suber, Jr., and John Arthur Suber.

Left to cherish many fond and loving memories are his wife, Naomi Ruth Baker Suber of the home; one daughter, Joyce Goldsmith of Greenville; two sons, Otto Julius (Vivian) Baker and Ron (Sherry) Suber, both of Greenville; three sisters, Marge Wynn of Douglasville, GA, Lizzette Harpe of Simpsonville, and Lois Allen of Greenville; one brother, Charles (Beverly) Suber of Greenville; a special sister-in-law, Joanne Suber of Greenville; one aunt, Callie Mae Seaton of Detroit, MI; one uncle, Earskin Putman of Detroit, MI; two grandchildren, Jermaine Samuel and Gavin Goldsmith; two great-grandchildren, Totiyonna Samuel and Courtney Jermaine Samuel; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Ruth, Children and other family member,
We enjoyed talking with Otis at Alberta's birthday dinner. He spoke so highly of his church and that he was the oldest member and also a deacon there. Please know that we are praying for you and the family. It is a little to early for us to attend another home going service since Twyla's passing, but please know that we are with you and the family in pray. God Bless!

Please accept my most sincere sympathy for the death of your loved one. We can find comfort in the word of God because it assures us that "there is going to be a resurrection" (Acts 24:15).  God promises to give life back to millions of people who have died, and he desires to do so very soon.

A servant of God from the past, Job, asked him: “If a man dies, can he live again?  I will wait all the days of my compulsory service (sleep in death) until my relief comes.  You (Jehovah) will call, and I (Job) will answer you. You will long for the work of your hands” (Job 14:14, 15). God is longing to give life back to those who have died.

Perhaps these words do not calm your pain reflecting on the divine promises found in the Bible will give you the hope and strength to keep going until all of God’s promises are fulfilled.  May these words bring you and your family much comfort from Jehovah God, the God of all comfort (2 Corinthians 1: 3, 4.)
