I met Mr. Johnson in 1989. He visited the textile plant in Eden NC where I worked; Vintage Yarns. Every week or two for 8 years he would come through the shipping door with a big smile; never failed, he always had that big smile when he saw the first person to greet him; then came that welcomed but dreaded hand shake; whew, he had a grip. Myself and most all of my co-workers at Vintage made a good friend in Robert. He and our shipping manager; Mr, Frosty always had jokes and a few arm wrestling tournaments to entertain us for a few minutes during Robert’s visits. I was fortune enough to see Robert after the Vintage time. I eventually became Robert’s colleague in 2010. He never lost that great smile or that hand grip as he would always want to test your grip; LOL. He still had a strong one! He was a dedicated employee and good friend. Robert will be greatly missed. I am truly sorry for your loss; Robert’s long time friend; Jeff Shelton
