I remember Josephine growing up in Fieldcrest; she and Gloria McCrary were two of the prettiest and sharp dressing girls who had it all...beauty, style, grace, charm and street smart. I would call Josephine and Gloria, Florence Ballard and Diana Ross of the Supremes because Josephine favored Florence, and Gloria looked like Diana Ross. Josephine was hilarious...funny with her dry wit; I loved her wit and bad walk. I'll miss Jo; now walk around heaven all day!

Josephine was one of my first friends upon moving to Fieldcrest from Connecticut. She always found something funny to say to me when I felt sad about being so far away from home. Even though I was older than she , she was wiser than I was she had street smarts that I never had and she could crack a joke before I could even think of one. She always had a very special place in my heart and she’ll will be missed May she Rest In Peace/. Harriet Cauley Canty
