Obituary

Mrs. Evelyn Clardy Berry was born on May 14, 1941, in Greenville County, SC to the late Benjamin “Benny” Clardy and Leila Johnson Clardy. Her 78 years of life were a well-lived story worth telling; full of love, joy, and humility. On Thursday, August 29, 2019, Evelyn made her eternal transition. She was preceded in death by her late husband Pastor Henry Berry, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Valerie (Michael) Chatman of Greenville, SC; son, Cornelius (Cassandra) Berry, I, of Macomb, MI; one sister, Elaine Chapman of Roxbury, MA; six grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

To the Berry Family,
Sometimes the pain of separation from those we care about can be difficult. I'm reminded of the words written in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 NIV 13 Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. Mrs. Berry will be missed greatly, but just remember At death, God's people don't say "goodbye," but "we'll see you later." Furman S. Jackson & Rachel Jackson-Washington
