I hadn’t seen Debbie since our paths diverged after high school; so, the sadness and profound sense of loss I now feel learning of her passing has caught me off guard. I have been reflecting on why. The conversations we used to have about spiritual things during our many years at boarding school are now stirred in my memories. Even then, she knew what she believed and life never shook her from that foundation. I was thankful to be able to watch her memorial service online, and want to say to her family and friends, that the shared tributes spoken there verify her lifelong commitment to the God she loved, and with whom she walked steadfastly all her life. The legacy of that faith is what she leaves behind as a bright light for those who knew her. May that light comfort you through this time of grief, lead you to joy in your memories of her, and guide you throughout your lives until you see her again.
God bless you,
Karlene (Laverne) LaFayette

Many years ago, when I still worked outside of the home, I had the pleasure of working with Deborah as a pharmacy technician at New Horizon. Deborah was always one of my favorite people to work with in the pharmacy. She was confident, thorough, knowledgeable, and firm in her leadership, but also kind and compassionate. She always wanted what was truly best for each and every person she interacted with as a patient, co-worker, or friend. Many of our conversations were about our faith-- her convictions always shone beautifully from her genuine heart. My deepest sympathies and fervent prayers are with you all during this most difficult time. May the Lord bring you the peace and consolation of spirit in this time of sadness. I am truly sorry for your loss.
