Obituary

Mrs. Betty Ruth “Bet” Black, 79, of Greenville, South Carolina, passed on Friday, April 17, 2020, at home. She was a daughter of the late Albert and Ilean Hughes Tate.

She was a member of Relentless Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Black, Sr.; a son, Jimmy Black; two brothers, Albert Tate and Thomas Tate.

Left to cherish many fond and loving memories are three daughters, Eunice Davis, Emma Brown and Sandra (Jimmy) Blakley, all of Greenville, SC; two step-daughters, Ruell Rayford and Lillie Benson, both of Greenville, SC; two sons, James Lewis (Sandra) Black, Jr., and Tywon Black, both of Greenville, SC; two sisters, Sallie Mae Butler of Greenville, SC, and Connie (William) Mattison of Pelzer, SC; two brothers, William Tate of Williamston, SC, and James (Shirley) Tate of Pelzer, SC; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

OMG So sorry to see Ms Bet has left us, she gave me great hugs coming into church doors on Sunday morning's always with a bright beautiful smile. I’m sorry for for absence of being with us but I know she’s with the Lord but will be missed here on earth.

Mrs. Black was such an inspiration to all who knew her. I was blessed from a young age to have this woman of God to impact my life. My love and prayers are with the Black Family. Jennifer and Melvin Suber.
